Are You Ready to Stop Feeling Bad About Wanting More Money?

Are you ready to stop feeling bad about wanting more money?

Are you ready to change your relationship with money so you can make more, and have more so you can do more?

Here’s the thing: Money is a big deal! We can’t survive without it.

But for some reason we’ve created a lot of angst and drama around it.

Think about all you’ve “learned” about money in your life…

Money is the root of all evil…

That guy is filthy rich…

It’s not the money, it’s the principle… (p.s. don’t be fooled–it’s the money!)

And what’s the not so subtle message?

Money is bad and if you want money then you are bad.

But it’s not that simple, and here’s why:

First, at the most basic level it’s not about wanting it’s about needing.

Like I said before, we’ve structured our society in a way that we literally cannot survive without money.

In order to meet the most basic needs of life (food and shelter) there must be an expenditure of funds by someone.

Yes, of course it’s possible to live without a personal income.

But even if you are homeless, living in a box and eating from a dumpster, someone has spent money on the things that are keeping you alive.

Ok, let’s take it to the next step.

Once those basic survival needs are met, we can start thinking about wants.

And you know what? It’s ok to want things!

In fact, I’d say it’s a social imperative to want things!

But that’s also where we get into trouble.

Because we’ve been taught to think that wanting more than we have, or more than someone else has is bad or wrong.

What if it’s not bad or wrong?

What if it’s the most right thing in the whole world?

Let’s pretend that wanting more than we have is actually an act of service.

Let’s imagine that wanting more than we have (and taking action to acquire it) is an expression of love to all mankind.

What?!

Here’s my thought:

If someone “ancient” hadn’t wanted more than he had, we wouldn’t be able to live the way we do in these “modern” times.

We would all be walking if someone hadn’t decided to hitch a ride on a horse (or a camel, or whatever).

We would still be roaming and foraging if someone hadn’t decided to stay put and cultivate.

So every time you want more than you have and you figure out a way to get it, or you at least start trying to get it, you could choose to look at it as your contribution to moving society forward.

Now I realize that this may be a drastic mindset shift for some folks.

And that’s ok.

Mindset shifts are actually part of my service!   😉

When you’re ready to talk…

When you’re ready to stop feeling bad…

When you’re ready to be of service…

I’m here for you.

Leave me a comment. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
